An overview of the control panel- how it's organised and where to find things
When you log in to the CMS, you land in the control panel- the back-end interface where all content management takes place. The control panel is laid out consistently, with a primary navigation on the left-hand side and the main working area to the right.
Primary navigation
The left-hand navigation gives you access to the main areas of the CMS. What you see depends on your user role- some sections are only visible to users with the appropriate permissions. Common navigation items include:
Entries- where you create and manage the content pages, listings, and articles on your site
Assets- the media library, where images, documents, and other files are stored
Categories- shared taxonomies used to organise and filter content
Users- user account management (visible to administrators)
Globals- site-wide settings and content that is not tied to a specific entry
Utilities- tools for maintenance tasks such as triggering syncs
Plugin sections- such as Retour, AdWizard, and Availability Search- also appear in the navigation when those features are active.
The control panel URL
Your CMS is accessed at a URL ending in /destinationcore rather than the more common /admin. This is a deliberate security measure- see the separate article on why this is the case.
Searching the control panel
The search bar at the top of the control panel searches across entries, assets, and other content types. It is useful for quickly finding a specific entry by title or keyword when you know what you are looking for.
