How do I add a content block to a page?

A: Adding content blocks is the core of how you build pages in the Content Builder. The process is straightforward- here's how it works.

Step by step

Open the entry you want to edit and locate the Content Builder section within the entry

Look for the + button- this is usually accompanied by a dropdown or series of dropdowns that let you select the type of block you want to add

Select the block type and it will be added to the page

Fill in the content for that block- depending on the block type this might be text, images, a video embed link, or a combination

Each block has its own settings panel, located within the block itself, where you can adjust how it looks and behaves

Repeat for each block you want to add, building up the page section by section

Reordering blocks

Once you've added a few blocks you may want to adjust the order. You can drag and drop blocks into whatever sequence works best- you're not locked into the order you added them in. It's worth previewing the page as you reorder to make sure the flow feels right.

A few things to bear in mind

On freeform pages like News/Blog posts and Campaign pages, you have full flexibility over the number and order of blocks. On more templated pages- such as a category landing page or a Business Profile- the Content Builder may sit in a fixed position within the page design, and all blocks will stack within that area.

If a block isn't doing what you need, you can delete it and try a different one- there's no penalty for experimenting, especially with version history keeping a record of previous states.

💡 Top tip: If you want to see how your page is looking as you build it, toggle open the Live Preview panel. You'll see each block appear on the front end of your site in real time, which makes layout decisions much easier.
