How do I target an ad to specific pages?
By default, ads are drawn from the general pool of available inventory and may appear on any page that has an ad placement. You can make a specific ad more likely to appear on particular pages by relating it to those entries in the CMS.
How targeting works
Pages that display ads first look for ads that have been specifically related to that page. If enough targeted ads are found, they are shown in preference to the general pool. If fewer than three targeted ads exist for a page, the remaining placements are filled with random ads from the wider inventory.
Relating an ad to specific pages
Open the ad in the CMS and use the Related Entries field to select the pages or entries where you want the ad to appear preferentially. You can relate an ad to multiple entries. Save the ad once you have made your selections.
This is useful for contextually relevant advertising- for example, relating a restaurant's ad to food and drink content, or a hotel's ad to accommodation and itinerary pages.
Site-wide ads
Ads that are not related to any specific entries are considered general inventory and can appear on any page. These fill the placements when page-targeted ads are not available or do not make up the full set of three.
