How do I use audience segments to target specific subscribers?
Audience segments allow you to send a campaign to a defined subset of your Mailchimp audience rather than the full list. This is useful if you want to target subscribers based on their interests, location, engagement history, or any other criteria you have set up in Mailchimp.
Setting up segments in Mailchimp
Segments are created and managed within Mailchimp, not in the CMS. Before you can use a segment in a campaign template, you need to create it in your Mailchimp account. Mailchimp offers saved segments based on subscriber data and tags- refer to Mailchimp's own documentation for guidance on creating segments.
Applying a segment to a campaign template
Once a segment exists in Mailchimp, it becomes available as an option in the Segment field on your campaign template. Select the audience first, then choose the segment from the dropdown. All campaigns generated from that template will be sent to the selected segment rather than the full audience.
Sending to the full audience
To send to your complete audience without any segment filtering, simply leave the Segment field blank in the campaign template. The campaign will be delivered to all subscribed contacts in the selected audience.
If a segment is not appearing as an option
Segments are loaded from Mailchimp based on the selected audience. If you have created a new segment in Mailchimp and it is not appearing in the CMS, try saving and reopening the template. If it still does not appear, contact your site administrator to check the Mailchimp connection.
