How does Business Login work?
Business Login is a feature that allows the individual businesses within your destination to log in to a dedicated portal on your website's CMS and manage their own listings and content. Rather than your team handling every update on behalf of local businesses, Business Login gives those businesses a self-service way to keep their information current- with you retaining full editorial control through an approval workflow.
How businesses access the portal
Each business owner or operator is given a CMS account with Business Admin access. When they log in, they only see content relevant to their own business- they cannot view or edit other businesses or access any wider CMS functionality. From their dashboard they can see the businesses linked to their account and manage content from there.
The business dashboard
The dashboard is organised into tabs. The first tab covers the business's core listing- their profile, contact details, and any other primary information. Additional tabs are available for other content types such as Events, Offers, Blog posts, or Jobs, depending on what your package configuration allows for that business.
How businesses create and edit content
Within each tab, businesses can view their existing entries and create new ones. Some fields will be locked and cannot be edited by the business- these are fields your team manages centrally, such as approval settings, package tier, and administrator assignments.
The submission and approval workflow
When a business has finished editing an entry, they can either save it as a draft to return to later, or submit it for approval. Submitted entries come through to your CMS team for review before anything goes live on the site. You can approve or reject each submission, keeping full editorial control over what is published.
If you choose to enable auto-approval for a particular business, their submissions will publish immediately without requiring manual sign-off- useful for trusted or high-volume partners.
Submission statuses
Businesses can see the status of each of their entries at a glance:
Draft- saved but not yet submitted
Pending Review- submitted and waiting for your team to approve
Approved- published live on the site
Rejected- not approved; the business can edit and resubmit
Package tiers
Each business is assigned a package tier, which controls which content types they can submit and which fields they can edit. This allows you to offer tiered access to businesses- for example, a premium partner might be able to manage events and offers, while a basic listing can only update their core profile. Package tiers are configured and assigned by your CMS administrators.
