How does Email Automation work?
Email Automation is a feature built into your CMS that allows you to create, generate, and send email campaigns to your subscribers without leaving the control panel. Campaigns are built automatically from the latest published content on your site and sent to your Mailchimp audience.
The end-to-end process
The workflow has three stages. First, you create a campaign template- a reusable blueprint that defines which sections of your site to pull content from, which Mailchimp audience to send to, what the email subject line will be, and how frequently the campaign should run.
Second, the CMS generates a campaign from that template. This can happen manually when you trigger it yourself, or automatically on a schedule you define. When a campaign is generated, the system queries the latest published entries from your selected sections, assembles them into an email, and creates a campaign in Mailchimp ready to send.
Third, the campaign is sent. Recurring campaigns can be scheduled to send automatically at a day and time you configure. One-off campaigns can be sent manually from within the CMS or directly from your Mailchimp account.
What the CMS handles
The CMS takes care of pulling in fresh content, generating the email HTML, and creating the campaign in Mailchimp. You do not need to log in to Mailchimp to run a standard campaign- everything can be managed from within the CMS control panel.
