My image uploaded but isn't displaying on the site

Successfully uploading an image to the CMS media library and having it appear on the live site are two separate steps. If your image uploaded without errors but is not showing on the site, the following checks should help resolve it.

Check the image has been attached to the entry

Uploading an image adds it to the media library, but it still needs to be selected within the entry itself. If you uploaded the image through the media library directly rather than through an image field on an entry, it will not be connected to any content and will not appear on the site.

To check: open the entry where the image should appear and confirm the relevant image field contains the uploaded image. If the field is empty, use the Add Image or Select Asset option within that field to find and attach your image, then save the entry.

Check the entry has been saved after adding the image

If you selected the image within an entry but navigated away or closed the browser before saving, the change will not have been applied to the live entry.

To check: open the entry and confirm the image field contains your image, then save the entry to ensure the change is published.

Check the correct volume was used

Images in the CMS are organised into separate storage areas called volumes, each corresponding to a different content type- for example, there are separate volumes for events, blog posts, business listings, and so on. If an image was uploaded to the wrong volume it can still be used, but it is worth keeping images in their correct location for organisation purposes.

To check: within the image field on your entry, confirm the image shown is the correct one. If the field is pulling from the media library you can browse to locate your uploaded image regardless of which volume it was saved to.

The site may be serving a cached version

Your sites use static caching at the server level. Even after saving an entry with a new image, there may be a short delay before the change appears on the live site. In most cases this clears automatically. If the image is still not showing after some time, contact your site administrator who can manually clear the cache.

Check the image format is supported

Image fields on entries are restricted to standard image file types. If you are attempting to attach a file that is not an image- such as a PDF or a video file- it will not be accepted by an image field. Ensure your file is saved as a JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, or SVG before uploading.

If the image appears broken rather than absent

If the image field on the entry shows a broken thumbnail or a placeholder, the file may not have uploaded completely. Try removing the image from the field, re-uploading the file, and attaching it again.
