My newly added content isn't appearing in site search

Your site search is powered by Algolia, which maintains its own index of your content separately from the CMS. When you publish or update an entry, the CMS adds a job to a background queue to update the Algolia index. This means there is always a short delay between content being published and it appearing in search results.

The index update may not have run yet

Updating the Algolia index happens in the background via a queue process rather than immediately when you save an entry. On the live site this queue runs on an automated schedule, so there will typically be a delay of a few minutes between publishing content and it becoming searchable.

If your content has been live for a reasonable amount of time and still is not appearing in search, the queue job may have failed or stalled. Contact your site administrator who can check the queue status and manually trigger a re-index if needed.

Check the entry is fully published and enabled

Only live, enabled entries are added to the Algolia index. If your entry is saved as a draft, is disabled, has a future post date, or has expired, it will not be included in search results. Confirm your entry is fully published and enabled before investigating further.

Check the entry is in a section that is included in search

Not all sections are included in the Algolia index. The index is configured to include specific content types, and some sections may be deliberately excluded. If your content type does not typically appear in search results, it may not be part of the indexed content. Contact your site administrator if you are unsure whether a particular section is included.

Check the entry meets the required content criteria

Entries included in the Algolia index must meet certain content requirements- for example, having an image, a description, or other key fields populated. If an entry is missing required information it may be excluded from the index even if it is otherwise live and enabled. Ensure all key fields on your entry are filled in.

If content was removed but still appears in search

The same queue-based process handles removals from the index. If you have deleted or disabled an entry but it is still appearing in search results, the removal job may not have processed yet, or may need to be triggered manually. This should resolve on its own, but if it persists contact your site administrator.
