What are Global Sets and when should I use them?

Global Sets are a way of storing content and settings that apply across the whole site rather than belonging to a specific entry. They appear in the Globals section of the control panel.

What Global Sets are used for
Common uses include:

Site-wide contact details such as address, phone number, and email
Social media links
Default or fallback images used across multiple templates
Footer content
Site-wide SEO defaults
Because Global Set content is not tied to any one entry, it can be accessed and displayed anywhere on the site- in the header, footer, or across multiple page templates.

When to use Global Sets
Use a Global Set when you need to store content that appears on multiple pages and needs to be updated in one place. If you find yourself adding the same phone number or address to dozens of individual entries, that information probably belongs in a Global Set.

Global Sets are not a replacement for entries. They are for site-wide settings and shared content, not for managing individual pieces of content that visitors navigate to. If you are unsure whether something belongs in a Global Set or an entry, contact your site administrator.
