What is Availability Search and what does it do on the site?
Availability Search is a feature that connects your CMS to the DestinationCore Availability Search Engine- a platform that holds real-time accommodation availability and booking information for your destination.
On the front end of your website, Availability Search powers the accommodation search experience. Visitors can search for available properties by date, filter by accommodation type and other criteria, and follow through to book. When a visitor views an individual business listing, Availability Search can also display live availability and a direct booking prompt for that specific property.
The data that powers this- the list of properties, their availability, and booking options- comes from the Availability Search Engine itself. The CMS connects to that platform and presents its data through your website. It does not store availability information directly.
What this means for content managers
Your role is to connect the right CMS entries- business listings, accommodation pages- to the right properties in the Availability Search Engine, and to ensure the sync between the two systems is up to date. The actual availability data is managed in the Availability Search Engine platform, not within the CMS.
