Why can't I edit the fields on a DataThistle imported event?

Events that have been imported from DataThistle are managed by an automated sync process. While you can technically open these entries in the CMS and make changes, any edits to DataThistle-managed fields will be overwritten the next time the sync runs and DataThistle reports that the event has been updated. For this reason, DataThistle imported events should be treated as read-only for the fields listed below.

Fields managed by DataThistle

The following fields are populated and maintained automatically by the DataThistle sync. Editing these in the CMS will have no lasting effect:

Event title
Description and preview text
Start date, end date, and all-day setting
Performance schedule, times, and durations
Ticket types, prices, and booking links
Venue address and map location
Telephone number and website URL
Event images
Categories
How to correct information on a DataThistle event

If any of the above information is incorrect- for example, a wrong time, address, or description- the change needs to be made in DataThistle itself, not in the CMS. Once the data has been updated in DataThistle, it will be picked up and applied to the CMS entry the next time the sync runs. Contact whoever manages your DataThistle account to request the correction.

Fields that can be safely edited

Not all fields on a DataThistle event entry are managed by the sync. Fields that have been added specifically to your CMS setup and are not part of the DataThistle data- such as custom tags, editorial notes, or manually assigned relationships- can be edited without the risk of them being overwritten. If you are unsure whether a specific field is safe to edit, contact your site administrator.

The related business link

If your site links imported events to business directory listings, this relationship is set automatically by the sync using a name-matching process. If the wrong business has been linked, or no business has been linked and one should be, this can be manually corrected in the CMS. However, if the sync subsequently updates the event and finds a different match, the link may be overwritten. Contact your site administrator if you need the business link to be fixed permanently.
